110′ driveway with rutting, potholes and improper grade where there was no where for water to run off, creating ruts in driveway.Take a look at the restoration process in pictures. Click on any image to enlarge. Notice the left side where the hill reaches driveway, all that water enters and runs down the road surface eroding the stone and causing rutting. Ruts are caused by water flowing in the same area, washing away the smaller stone. Look at right side how it actually inclines keeping water on the driveway. Notice on right side the exposed larger stones. This is due to water run off eroding the finer material which causes ruts. Approach to driveway. Notice the weeds in center as well as the left side has no drainage. Additionally the right side of drive pitches upward causing all water to run down road surface creating ruts and potholes. After the first round of scarifying and leveling to get proper grade. The process is to scarify deep enough to get under the issue, reset the gravel and compact it. I also cut in a ditch to facilitate water flow to side of drive. Graded, pitched, smoothed and compacted. The ditch to the right going down hill will work to remove water from the driveway helping to prevent further erosion and rutting. Finished!
